Somalia's Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, visited the Headquarters of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force along with a high-level delegation to discuss bilateral defence cooperation and regional security.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Somali Defence Minister met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters on Wednesday. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual professional interest, regional maritime security, and ways to further strengthen bilateral defence ties.

Admiral Naveed Ashraf reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing defence cooperation with Somalia and emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration in promoting regional maritime stability and security.

The Somali Defence Minister appreciated the Pakistan Navy’s role in maintaining regional maritime security and praised its professionalism and operational capabilities.

Later, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi visited the Air Headquarters, where he met Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. The meeting focused on expanding bilateral defence cooperation, professional collaboration, training initiatives, and capacity-building programs.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber highlighted the Pakistan Air Force’s indigenous capabilities, advanced training programs, and ongoing efforts to strengthen professional exchanges with friendly nations. He also reiterated the Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to enhancing institutional cooperation with the Somali Air Force.

The Somali Defence Minister commended the Pakistan Air Force for its professionalism, operational excellence, and technological advancements, expressing his desire to further expand defence relations between the two countries.
