Lahore: The Punjab Government has allocated Rs310 million for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “She Threads” initiative, a major employment and skills development program aimed at empowering rural women through training in the textile sector.

According to details, the program has been launched to promote economic independence and professional skills among women living in rural areas across the province.

Under the She Threads program, women aged between 18 and 45 years who have completed at least middle-level education are eligible to apply. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 along with a transport allowance during the training period.

The initiative introduces 10 specialized training courses in the textile sector for rural women. Government officials stated that 1,150 women are currently receiving textile training under the program, while an additional 1,350 women will be trained next year.

The courses include Industrial Stitching Machine Operator, Fabric Quality Inspector, Fabric Cutting Expert, Apparel Planning and Merchandising, Apparel Supervisor, Pattern Making and Cutting, Pattern Drafting and Grading, Quality Control, Garment Finishing, Packer, and Garment Waxing.

Speaking about the initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that empowering every woman financially remains a key commitment of the government. She emphasized that skilled women are a valuable national asset and that the textile sector offers vast employment opportunities for trained female workers.

It is worth mentioning that textile training courses under the She Threads program are currently being conducted successfully in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad. Over the past two years, around 2,500 women have completed these training programs, and 773 of them secured employment immediately after completing their training.
